The main character in the detective drama Good Liar is a crook named Roy Courtney. All his life, he has only been engaged in deceiving unsuspecting victims. Most often, Roy prefers to get involved with rich and naive people, but finding them over the years becomes more and more difficult.
Even though the main character does not believe in luck too much, he is confident that fate itself sent him a big jackpot. It happens at the moment when Roy meets a wealthy widow named Betty on the Internet. Upon learning that she owns a vast fortune, the fraudster decides to crank out an elaborate scheme. After that, he is going to retire.
Roy soon begins to put his plan into action. Betty opens him not only for his house but also for his life. But when the main character is close to completing the mission, he catches himself with the thought that Betty evokes warm romantic feelings in him. He wants to take care of her. And this makes the initial fraudulent scheme into a problematic walk on a tightrope. Roy has to make a difficult choice.
